McIlroy Backs LIV Players' PGA Return as 'Good Business'

McIlroy Backs LIV Players' PGA Return as 'Good Business'

Rory McIlroy said the PGA Tour and DP World Tour should welcome back LIV Golf players if they choose to return, calling it good business practice. Speaking at the Truist Championship, the Northern Irish golfer referenced PGA Tour executive Brian Rolapp's view that anything strengthening the tours merits openness. McIlroy added that players seeking maximum competitiveness belong on the traditional tours.

McIlroy's comments come amid uncertainty for LIV Golf, backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which plans to end funding after this season. Brooks Koepka has already rejoined the PGA Tour, while Patrick Reed plans to return next year. LIV Golf recently hired Ducera Partners LLC to seek long-term investment partners and evolve into a multi-partner model.

Bryson DeChambeau, a two-time U.S. Open winner, indicated he might focus on YouTube full-time if LIV folds, citing his channel's growth potential.

McIlroy's stance reflects his evolving position on LIV Golf since its launch.
